The following recommendations were made to Jason's parents during the
evaluation feedback session:
Priorities for Intervention Across Setting:
1.
Educational and Therapeutic Service: Based on his diagnosis, Jason
should continue to receive a intervene program of intensive training
totaling at least 25 hours per week, as recommended by the National
Research Council's 2001 report Educating children with Autism。
2.
Verbal Proficiency: In order to increase Jason's use words to
communicate throughout daily routines. Additionally, it may be helpful
to institute structured opportunities for Jason to practice getting
other's attention verbally, rather than relying on physical means.
3.
Improving Emotional and Behavioral Regulation: It will be important for
Jason to receive structured practice in coping successfully with mild
frustration in order to increase his skills at remaining calm and
transitioning to new activities.
Priorities for Intervention in Educational Settings:

Special Education Classification: based on the results of his evaluation
Jason continues to meet criteria for a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum
Disorder.
5.
Educational Placement: It is recommended that Jason be provided with
special education supports as needed to promote academic progress and
support appropriate behavior in the classroom. Jason may initially
require part-time assistance of an adult who can prompt and reinforce
appropriate behavior and implement specific behavioral strategies to
promote appropriate classroom participation. It is recommended that a
behavior specialist with expertise in educational programming for
children with autism spectrum disorder provide consultation in
establishing an appropriate program of special education supports and
