be fatiguing, and he may exhaust his effort on these tasks quickly and

begin refusing, avoiding, or may seem " non-compliant." Behaviorally, he

is still not capable of participating in formal intellectual testing,

but this is something that we would like to look as he gets older ( i.e

age 7), to see if he continue to display visual processing weakness. In

the meantime, we feel that we will benefit from multimodal learning

approaches, as well as varying visual and verbally-loaded tasks in order

to give him a visual break. We also encourage breaking more difficult

tasks into small steps (DTT) with breaks in between, varying maintenance

and acquisition tasks during work ( with a ratio of more maintenance

than acquisition tasks), and reinforcing effort rather than output.

Another related area of difficulty that we observed today is in the area

of self regulation and compliance during low-interest activities. These

should also be areas of focus in his treatment program, It will be

important to increase Jason's ability to tolerate tasks that he is not

interested in, as this is an important needed for school. However, we

observed that he does not respond as well to directives as he does to

some element of shared control, playfulness, and reinforcement. These

techniques can be used to specifically focus on increasing his tolerance

for adult-directed activities. For example, a visual schedule can

structure expectations and provide a system for reinforcement that he
